Lubukbasung benuanews.com – The corpse flower was found by residents of Dusun Simaruok, Jorong II, Nagari Geragahan, Lubukbasung District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra around his oil palm plantation, Monday (15/12).

“I found the corpse flower on the edge of the Padang Bamban forest when I was about to go to my plantation near that location,” said Simaruok resident Olwi Werta (47) in Lubukbasung, Wednesday.

On the way to the garden, he saw a strange plant with a long, and round shape.

After he saw closely, the plant was similar to a corpse flower that was found in Sungai Landai some time ago.

However, the corpse flower that was found was still bud, with a flower height of about 1.5 meters.

“The corpse flower has not yet bloomed and is growing near the river,” he said.

Forest Ecosystem Controller for the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) of West Sumatra, Ade Putra, said that the flower is expected to bloom perfectly in about 10 days.

“The flower is in full bloom for the next seven days and after that it will wither,” he said.

The corpse flower was already in the generative phase with an age of approximately two years.

The generative phase was the second phase after the vegetative phase. The vegetative phase was only in the form of stalks, leaves and stems. While the generative phase, the plant has shown its flowers.
